| Squire Spends Week with Books Galore!

Squire Elementary School recently hosted its fall Scholastic Book Fair. Media Coordinator Melanie Sizemore planned a week of activities to coincide with the Scholastic Book Fair for students, parents and teachers. All the proceeds raised from the book fair will be used to purchase books and materials for students to use in the Media Center. The “One For Books Change War” was a project that Sizemore sponsored a week before the actual Book Fair. During the week, the class that raised the most money in the "Change War” got an opportunity to spray Principal Ann Davis with silly string. The week also include the following activities: “It’s Cool to Read” Day – Students can wore sunglasses to show that it is cool getting caught reading; “At Home Family Reading Night”– Parents were urged to turn off the television and video games and read with their children; “Dress up like your favorite book character” Day; and, “Hats Off to Reading” Day – Students wore their favorite hat in conjunction with Literacy Night held at the school. The final activity of the week was “Goodies With Grandparents” – Grandparents visited the Book Fair with their grandchildren and enjoyed great snacks while shopping for books.
 Squire Forms PEP

Squire Elementary School's administration and staff kicked off their first PEP (Parent Eagle Partnership) Day. The “PEP” is a collaboration among parents, teachers and students, which takes place monthly. On “PEP” days parents are invited to come and visit their child’s classrooms during instructional time to witness their learning first-hand. The schedule times ensure parents have an opportunity to float or to remain throughout the day and even enjoy lunch with their child as well as visit their enhancement classes. Ann Davis, SES Principal, and the entire SES staff believe that the “PEP” Days will increase student performance, encourage positive student behavior and build meaningful relationships between the home and the school.
